Definition of Web Browser

Web browser adalah suatu perangkat lunak yang digunakan untuk menampilkan halaman-halaman website yang berada di internet. Adapun beberapa istilah yang sering muncul pada saat kita menggunakan web browser adalah sebagai berikut :

Website	Halaman-halaman web saling terhubung dalam suatuwebsite
Homepage	Halaman awal ketika suatu situs dimunculkan, biasanya juga sebagai penghubung ke website-website yang lain
URL	Alamat unik pada suatu halaman web, yang sigunakan web server untuk mengirimkan halaman web tersebut ke komputer yang mengaksesnya
www	Kumpulan dari dokumen-dokumen elektronik yang kemudian disebut web, tiap dokumen tersebut dinamakan web page
Portal	Web yang menyediakan berbagai jenis layanan misal pencarian, olahraga, hiburan dsb

There are several kinds of web browsers can we use to display web pages. There are three types of web browsers commonly used are:
1. Internet Expoler
2. Netscape
3. Mozilla
4. opera

Function Web Browser
To create a Web application, in this case we are using HTML. Here we need an editor that allows you to type, edit or save the documents HTML Editor for designing a web divided by 2 is a WYSIWYG (Graphic) editor, including Notepad and Ultra Edit, and WYSIWYG editors, including Netscape and Front Page.

Basic Structure of HTML
The main function of the web browser is to display the web pages contained on the internet, other than that we can keep our website and be able to call again later (Bookmarks), the website can also be saved (save) to the information in it we can take .

Internet Expoler
Here I take the Internet Expoler as its web browser. Microsoft Internet Expoler, a built-in software with the Windows operating system. Version of Internet Expoler vary according to the Windows operating system being used (IE 4.0 for Windows 98/ME, IE 5 / 6 for Windows XP). To begin Internet Expoler can be done in the following ways:

1. Select the program Expoler Internet, can be through the start or via the Internet icon expoler.
2. Make connections to the Internet first, if necessary.
3. Type the website address that will be addressed, if the connection is running it will show a web page that you want 

To open a website, there are two ways to do that is:

• First. Selecting the menu File, then Open it will display the Open window. Then enter the website address you want. For example http://www.unikom.ac.id, then press the OK button or the Enter key, then the website will be raised. 
• Second. By entering the website address directly into the address box located on the Internet window Expoler

 Other buttons used are as follows:

Back	Untuk kembali ke halaman sebelumnya
Stop	Untuk menghentikan proses loading website
Forward	Untuk ke halaman berikutnya
Refresh	Untuk mengulang loading website
Save As	Untuk menyimpan website yang sedang dibuka yang dapat dilakukan dengan memilih menu File, kemudian Save As
Save As Picture	Untuk menyimpangambar pada website dengan cara mengklik kanan mouse pada gambar yang diinginkan kemudian pilh Save As Picture

 

UNDERSTAND THE INTERNET AND ADDRESS HYPERLINK

Internet Address
Internet address or the address of a web called a URL (Uniform Resource Location). Internet address is usually composed of four parts, namely: 

Name of the protocol (the protocol is the rules or standards that enable computers to share information. 

• The location of the site, for example www (world wide web)
• The name of the organization that governs the site
• A suffix that identifies the type of organization (eg. Com for a commercialorganization)

Suppose http://www.ditpsmk.net/ known Internet address, meaning: 

http           : web servers using Hypertext Transfer Protocol.
www          : This location is in the world wide web ditpsmk: These are web servers that manage the site diditpsmk
net            : This indicates the institution is engaged in the network (network) 

Hyperlink

Within a website, looks some text that has a different color, underlined, or being in the box button. The texts this is called a hyperlink or a link. If this section is clicked the user will be taken to other web pages. You can find out that the text is active (link) if the mouse pointer over the text. Pointer turns into a pointing finger.

Saving Files Web Pages

Web page in Internet Explorer can be saved into a computer file. In aiming for a web page can be opened again without connecting to the internet (work offline)
Storage of web pages can be done by:
- Click File lali select Save As (in Internet Explorer
- Define Storage Locations
- In the File name text box: box, type a file name and click save to start saving

Download

Download is the process of retrieval of information in the form of files, data or programs provided by a website and store it into the computer. Type the downloaded file is usually in the form:. Pdf (acrobat reader from the application). Ppt (power point of the application). Doc (ms of the application. Word),. Htm or. Html (the html file). Adal also is an image data format (. Jpg,. Jpeg,. Tiff,. Gif)

Understand Cookies And its Management

1. Understanding Cookies 

Cookies are text files created by websites to store information on your computer, that information such as your preferences when you visit the site. One example, when you visit a web site aviation services, the site might create cookies that contain the information you are traveling or just keep records of any pages you've seen in the site.

Cookies may also store your personal information such as name, e-mail address, home or work address, telephone number that can be used to identify or contact you. This can only happen if you provide such information within a website.

Fungsi cookies :

1. Reminds website who we are and set the appropriate preferences so that when the user re-visiting the website will be instantly recognizable.
2. Eliminate the need to re-register on the website when you access again (site only), cookies help theuser login process into a web server.
3. Allows the website to browse the Web surfing patterns of users and find favorite websites frequently visited.

2. controlling Cookies

Cookies can be controlled in Internet Explorer because it relates to the privacy of Internet users.
How: In Internet Explorer, click the Tools menu and select Internet Options. * On the privacy tab, move the slider up or down to increase the level of privacy or mernendahkannya. You can change the privacy level and see the explanation of it starting from the lowest level that allows all Cookies (Accept All Cookies) to the highest level ie block all Cookies (Block All Cookies) 

3. deleting Cookies

Cookies are files that exist on the computer can be removed in the following way: In Internet Explorer, click the Tools menu and select Internet Options. On the General tab, click Settings, click View Files In File Cookies you want to delete. You can remove all cookies click the Delete Cookies on the General tab and confirm with OK button.

• Closing Internet Access 

Step - steps taken to close the Internet window:
1) By using a cross icon on the top right corner.
2) By right-clicking the web address shown on the active at the bottom and click close
3) Click the file menu, select click close
4) Click logout menu commands available on the web page.
